BLOG ARTICLES EXERCISE (1 of 2)

To begin thinking about research in communication and research more generally, this exercise gives you the chance to review and evaluate a collection of news articles and blog entries that contain reports of research on various topics. Here's what to do:

  1. Spend a little while reviewing the different items that are collected on the Communication Research Methods blog.

  2. After you get a sense of what's there, identify 2 posts that you find particularly interesting.

  3. In no more than 3 pages (double-spaced using standard fonts and 1 inch margins) identify each of the three posts (by title and a sentence or two long summary) and for each one a) explain what it is that interests you about it, b) indicate at least one question related to research the post raises for you, and d) describe how confident you feel about answering that question ( provide your tentative answer if you have one).

Be sure to save your electronic copy of the paper you submit so that you can use it for the followup to this assignment.

Bonus: During the semester (and even beyond), send me the urls for items you find that you think could be usefully added to the blog.

If you have any questions or problems, just ask.
